Disempower

This is defined as taking away our own (or someone else’s) power by blaming other people and other things for how we feel. When we disempower ourselves we limit our ability to choose... Read more

Empower

Empowerment is a bit of a buzz word in business and the social arena at the moment. Different people have different views on how we can best be empowered but invariably all empowerment relies on individuals learning new things for themselves so that they can do things – whether that is how to use the social services properly or how to create a brilliant life strategy. Everyday leader

We define leadership not in terms of a job title, a position of the board, or a certain rank or age but in terms of attitude and actions – we know that leadership can happen in any part of an organisation, each and every day. Leadership is a way of being, not a way of earning. Read more

Of these beliefs many will be empowering or useful for our wellbeing, success or growth. Others, that used to be useful, will have now become outdated or inaccurate in terms of how we live our lives or what we have discovered to be true about how the world or the system works. Such beliefs are now limiting beliefs as they constrain or block our ability to be free, to grow and to be successful. Read more

Mental resources

These are the emotional and psychological skills that a person needs to do a certain thing. For example, being a film director needs the mental resources of courage, strength, resolve, empathy, charisma etc, whereas being a chef needs the mental resources of resilience, creativity, organisation, energy etc. Read more
